Hotel in Tux: history and philosophy

Learn where we come from and what drives us!

The foundations for our hotel in Tux were laid in the 1950s. Mountain tourism in Tyrol was growing, so Franz Fankhauser founded the Texas Milchtrinkstube, or Texas Dairy Tavern, with four guest rooms. The establishment was renamed the Alte Hütte in 1961. To cater for the increasing number of guests to the Tuxertal Valley, the building was constantly renovated and expanded. The greatest success came in 2007… our four-star Berghaus Alpine Hotel was born. In 2013, the luxurious suites for up to nine guests in the Schafferhaus followed the Berghaus Suites.
In 2019 the next big hit came and a pepped up Apinhotel Berghaus was created with a panorama pool, natural swimming pond, an outdoor block sauna, a new restaurant with a view of the Hintertux Glacier, as well as 10 new lifestyle studios!
Another highlight from December 2021 are our new Green Living Apartments "Eco Style" with underground parking and top modern ski and bike depot.
Our Alpine hotel and suites comprise a harmonious, comfortable concept. The rooms, spa landscape, restaurant and bar all complement each other and promote the feeling of homeliness in a quiet setting. Just what you need from a holiday in Tyrol! Numerous return visitors have been enjoying our warm hospitality and uncomplicated, friendly atmosphere for many years. Your hosts are there for you… indeed, Thomas is always with our guests in our magnificent mountains, come rain or shine. We live by our motto – “with warmth, only the best for our guests!”
