Staying at the Alpinhotel Berghaus

Rooms, Studios & Suites

With us, you can stay however suits you best—from a cozy hotel room to our newly renovated lifestyle studios to a suite with its own sauna. You can add our ¾ gourmet board to any room: breakfast in the morning, an afternoon snack, and a multi-course dinner in the evening—much of it sourced from our own Aue farm. And if you’d rather cook for yourself, book a suite or a Green Living Apartment with its own kitchen and prepare your own meals however you like.

Since 1958

Fankhauser family

The Berghaus has been part of Tux since 1958, and we are part of it. Today, we are the third generation to run it: Thomas and Ulrike, their son Markus, and his wife Verena. You won’t find us in the background—we’re right in the thick of things: in the morning at the breakfast buffet, during the day at the front desk, and in the evening at the bar. For us, this isn’t just a business—it’s our home, and we invite you to come in.

"It feels like home here with you guys."

The Aue Farm

Much of what ends up on your plate in the evening is grown not far from here. The Aue Farm is family-owned, and the beef, lamb, and game come straight from there to your table. And because we’re proud of that, you’re welcome to stop by anytime and see where your food comes from.

With Your Four-Legged Friend

Dogs Welcome

At our hotel, no one has to leave their dog at home. Your four-legged friend is welcome at the Alpinhotel Berghaus all year round—regardless of breed or size, in summer and winter alike. Whether it’s a small companion or a large St. Bernard, to us, your dog is naturally part of the family.

You don't need to book a special category for this. Your dog is welcome in any of our rooms, since we clean all of them to meet allergy-friendly standards anyway. This means we don't need separate dog-free rooms, and you have complete freedom of choice.
Your dog can stay by your side during dinner, too: He’s welcome in the fireplace lounge while you enjoy breakfast or dinner. We’ll be happy to provide a blanket for his spot and a bowl for water and food—just let us know at the front desk.
We charge 24 euros per day for your dog.

Your dog is part of our family—not an exception.

Outdoors in the Zillertal

Active in Tux

We’re located here at 1,400 meters, right where the Zillertal narrows to its most picturesque point and the mountains close in on each other. What others plan for their vacations is right on our doorstep. The ski bus stops in front of the house every 10 minutes, and in just three minutes you’ll be at the foot of the Hintertux Glacier, the only ski resort in Austria that’s open year-round.

Winter

Skiing & Glaciers

It's a 3-minute ride on the ski bus to the Hintertux Glacier, Austria's only year-round ski resort.
It's a seven-minute walk to the Eggalm, our quieter local mountain and the starting point for the vast Ski Zillertal 3000 area.
It takes ten minutes to drive to Vorderlanersbach to catch the Rastkogelbahn; from there, you continue on to Mayrhofen.
You can pick up your skis from our local partner—they’ll be picked up in the morning and returned in the evening, so you don’t have to lug them around.
And those seeking tranquility can go on a ski tour with our guides, heading up to where the best snow lies in the morning.
Summer

Hiking & Biking

The hiking trails start right at the house, ranging from leisurely valley trails all the way up to glacier hikes.
From Monday through Friday, our activity guides will take you on tours; the weekly schedule is posted every Sunday evening.
We'll ride our e-bikes through the Tux Valley as far as our legs and the battery will take us.
For day trips, the Natur Eis Palast, the Spannagel Cave, or the alpine dairy in Mayrhofen are all worth visiting; many of these attractions offer discounts with the Zillertal Activcard.
And if the sky happens to stay gray, we have a water park, cave tours, and museums in store for you.

Our activity guides and all guided hikes and tours are free for you as a hotel guest!

Location

Right in the heart of Tux, at the end of the Zillertal Valley

We’re located at 1,400 meters, right where the Zillertal Valley ends in Tux and the mountains come right up close. The ski bus stops right in front of the house and runs every ten minutes, so you can simply hop on and head out after breakfast. It’s a three-minute ride to the Hintertux Glacier and seven minutes to the Eggalm.

If you’re coming by car, you can park for free right in front of the house or park your car in our weather-protected underground garage. And if you’d rather leave your car behind, you can take the train right to our doorstep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are dogs allowed?

Yes. Dogs are welcome at the Alpinhotel Berghaus year-round—all breeds, all sizes, and in all room categories. Your dog is welcome to join you in the fireplace lounge for dinner. The cost is 24 euros per day; a blanket and food bowl are available upon request.

Can families have separate sleeping areas?

Yes. Several rooms can be connected via a connecting door—for example, a Double Room L and a Single Room. This allows parents and children to have separate sleeping areas on the same floor. For larger groups and three generations, the Deluxe Suite is ideal, accommodating up to nine people. We offer a crib upon request.

Is the ¾ gourmet board included?

Yes. The ¾ gourmet board plan can be booked for all rooms, studios, suites, and Green Living Apartments: breakfast, an afternoon snack, and a multi-course dinner. Much of the food comes from our own Aue farm. Our suites and Green Living Apartments have their own kitchens and can therefore be used for self-catering.

Can I use the spa and wellness area on the day I arrive?

Yes. The ALPIN SPA is available on both your arrival and departure days at no extra charge. The 1,500 m² wellness area, featuring five saunas and two pools, is located in the main building and can be accessed directly from the studios and apartments via an underground tunnel.

Are ski passes included in the price?

Ski passes are not included in the room rate. However, we'd be happy to include them in your package upon request. Guided hikes and our activity guides, on the other hand, are free of charge.
