For three generations, the Fankhauser family has been dedicated to making your stay one of the most memorable vacations of your life.
The senior manager, Traudl Fankhauser, is the heart of the house, always ready for a convivial chat or a little anecdote from the Tuxertal.
Thomas Fankhauser, your charming host, welcomes you to the Alpinhotel Berghaus every day. Often to be found at the bar, he takes care of structural matters and the well-being of the guests. His passion is evident in every detail of the hotel.
Ulrike, Thomas' wife and also the pillar behind the office and reception, is always on hand to make sure you are provided with all the information you need for your perfect vacation.
Markus, the up-and-coming junior manager, brings a breath of fresh air and modern impulses as a sommelier in service and is also out and about with our guests as an active guide. And while the young Michael is still studying hard, he carries the pride and commitment of the Fankhauser family within him.
Reception
Our receptionist is not only the face of reception, but also a driving force in employee recruitment and marketing. She is also Markus Fankhauser's partner.
Our long-standing receptionist uses every minute effectively and brings an incredible amount of expertise in all areas. After work, she can also be found at the bar with a glass of wine.
Lisa-Marie now brings her experience in gastronomy to the reception desk. With her commitment and flair for the business, she ensures a warm welcome and smooth operation - a valuable asset to our team.
Our multilingual receptionist with Spanish, Swedish and Chilean roots impresses with his talent for languages. He is known for his loyalty and reliability and is always ready to take on new challenges.
Service
Mario, our restaurant manager, brings a cheerful atmosphere to every setting with his sense of humor.
Fruzsina, our breakfast waitress, is a passionate sportswoman. Her great love is racing bikes, her husband Mario, who also works for us as a waiter, and their dog Olaf. With her attentive manner, she makes sure that our guests are well looked after every morning and start the day feeling refreshed.
Our breakfast waitress Barbara, a pillar of our business for 30 years, is the one who trains the new employees in the breakfast service with her absolute precision and is particularly popular with our regular guests.
Our service waitress and barkeeper Gabi is the cheerful character of the house and very popular with regular guests. Her humorous disposition and openness to all kinds of fun ensure that no guest leaves the house without sharing a schnapps with her.
Hamouda, the service waiter and gastronomy expert, is known for his innovative strength and balance. He attaches great importance to perfect service and excellent wine advice.
Britta is a key member of our service team. With her wealth of experience, excellent overview, and keen intuition for guests, she manages her station with confidence—especially during evening service. She coordinates processes calmly and efficiently, sets standards in quality and service, and is a real asset to the entire team with her positive, motivating manner.
Joe brings French charm to our service team and always ensures a good atmosphere in the hotel with his cheerful, open manner. At the same time, he impresses with his very precise, reliable way of working and high standards of quality in guest relations. Together with his girlfriend Britta, he is a real asset to our team.
Kitchen
Philip leads our kitchen team with professional expertise and a trained eye for detail. As head chef, he combines authority with warmth and creates a working atmosphere in which everyone feels comfortable.
Tommi, our sous-chef, is the calmest of all and brings serenity to our kitchen team with his even-tempered nature.
Norbert creates delicious starters every day and lovingly looks after the vitality bar. His humorous nature and confident way of working make him a valuable asset to the kitchen team.
Joel brings fresh ideas and good humor to the kitchen. With his enthusiasm for cooking, he not only conjures up delicacies, but also delights guests at the Kaiserschmarrn buffet.
Mike is the all-rounder in our kitchen - flexible, committed and always on hand. With his caring and friendly manner, he not only ensures that everything runs smoothly, but also creates a pleasant atmosphere in the team.
Lukas is a trained chef and brings fresh impetus to our kitchen with a lot of experience, passion and new ideas. He enriches our team every day with his professionalism, humorous manner and warm courtesy.
Housekeeping
Margot, who has been the loyal soul of the hotel and our neighbor for two decades, does an exceptional job as a tireless workhorse and head of the chambermaid department.
Zhanna has been part of our team for many years and ensures perfect rooms with thoroughness and speed. With her experience, reliability and expertise, she is an indispensable support in everyday life.
Rena has been part of our housekeeping team for seven years and is known for her creative towel figures. With her experience and attention to detail, she never fails to delight our guests.
Monika supports our team as a chambermaid and ensures that our guests feel completely at home with her meticulous attention to detail. She is particularly appreciated for her friendly, warm manner—she is very well liked by everyone in the team. With her dedication and positive attitude, she is a real asset to our hotel.
Edith supports our housekeeping team as housekeeper and impresses with her calm, pleasant manner. Even though she seems a little shy at first, she is very passionate about her work—she performs her tasks very conscientiously and is always there when her colleagues need support. Together with her brother Ferenc, she is a valuable addition to our team.
Massage & Wellness
Erika works for us as a massage therapist and also helps out our housekeeping team whenever needed. With her pleasant, calm manner, she creates moments of true well-being and is very popular with our guests as a massage therapist. We also particularly appreciate her warm personality, which she brings to her work every day.
Jan is not only our massage therapist, but also oversees our weekly spa program. Whether it's ice baths, water aerobics, or singing bowl therapy, he designs and supervises our wellness offerings with a wealth of expertise and sensitivity toward our guests. With great passion and palpable dedication, he ensures that relaxation and well-being are top priorities at our hotel.
Hiking guide
Sepp is not only a certified hiking guide, but also a long-time friend of host Thomas Fankhauser and the entire Berghaus family. With his deep connection to the region and his extensive knowledge of the most beautiful routes, he passionately guides our guests through the impressive mountain world. Whether leisurely panoramic trails or challenging summit tours - Sepp knows the Zillertal like the back of his hand and ensures that every hike is an unforgettable experience.
Janitor
Jörg is a trained plumber and locksmith and uses his technical skills to ensure that everything runs smoothly at the Berghaus. With his warm, sociable manner, he is appreciated by guests and the team alike.
History of the Alpinhotel Berghaus
From humble beginnings to a
luxury hotel in the heart of Tux
It was the vibrant decade of the 1950s when Franz Fankhauser, with a vision in his luggage, laid the first stone for today's jewel in the Tux Valley.
Originally founded as the "Texas Milchtrinkstube" with a handful of guest rooms, the place underwent a transformation in 1961 to become the "Alte Hütte".
Driven by the growing mountain tourism in Tyrol, our refuge continued to grow and develop.
A decade of growth and innovation at Berghaus
2007 marked the beginning of a new era: the magnificent four-star "Alpinhotel Berghaus" saw the light of day in the Alps.
Just a few years later, in 2013, we set new standards with the luxurious "Berghaus Suites" in the "Schafferhaus" - rooms that make everyone from couples to large families feel at home.
A new dimension of relaxation
But the journey of the Alpinhotel Berghaus was far from over. In 2019, our hotel once again unfolded in all its glory.
An expanded and modernized Alpinhotel Berghaus opened its doors: with a panoramic pool that touches the soul, an idyllic natural swimming pond, a rustic outdoor log sauna, an exquisite restaurant with views of the majestic Hintertux Glacier and, last but not least, our eight exclusive lifestyle studios.
Ecological elegance meets modern comfort
The latest pearl in our collection was unveiled in 2021: Our "Green Living Apartments" in contemporary "eco style", complemented by an underground parking garage and a state-of-the-art ski and bike depot.
