Three minutes from the breakfast table to the glacier

The Alpinhotel Berghaus is located in Madseit, at the far end of the Tux Valley at an elevation of 1,400 meters. Only one road leads further into the valley, and it ends at the Hintertux Glacier.

The ski bus stop is called “Alpinhotel Berghaus” and is right in front of the hotel. So you don’t have to dig your car out of the snow or look for a parking spot: just put on your ski boots, cross the street, and hop on. Three minutes later, you’ll be at the valley station at the glacier, which reaches an elevation of 3,250 meters.

One ski pass, five areas, 206 kilometers

From the house, you can reach the Zillertal 3000 ski and glacier area. This includes the Hintertux Glacier, the Eggalm, the Rastkogel, Finkenberg, as well as Penken and Ahorn in Mayrhofen. Together, these offer 206 kilometers of slopes and more than 60 lifts, all accessible with a single ski pass.

The glacier extends up to 3,250 meters, and the ski season runs from late September well into the summer. When the valley is still green, there’s already snow up top, and when the season ends elsewhere, people are still skiing here.

On the Road with Thomas and Markus

Your hosts are from the Zillertal and have known these mountains since childhood. Every week, they take guests on a ski safari to the most beautiful areas of the valley, which includes a stop at a mountain hut or inn. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the trip turns into a snowshoe hike off the beaten path.

To that end, we put together a separate program every week. Participation is free for our guests, and snowshoes are available at the hotel. The schedule for your week is posted at the hotel and included in the digital guest folder.

Ski Storage, Rentals, and Service

Your equipment is in good hands with us

Skis and boots stay in the ski room in the building overnight. In the morning, you walk the few steps to the ski bus stop and are on your way without having to load anything into the car first.

The ski room is located below the Green Living Apartments. From there, a tunnel leads to the main building, to the rooms, and on to the suites with private spas. So you can get to your gear while staying warm and dry, no matter where you’re staying.

You don't need to bring your own equipment. You'll find rental shops and ski schools in town; you can pick up a discount card for them at our front desk.

And if your edges and base start to wear down after a few tough days on the slopes, our partner Bernhard Sportmode will pick up your skis right at the hotel and bring them back after servicing.

Off the slopes

You Can Enjoy Winter Even Without Skis

Not everyone in the house wants to hit the slopes, and not every day. The cross-country ski trail through the Tux Valley starts right outside the door, two toboggan runs are lit up in the evening, and we’ll lend you snowshoes for free.

In addition, there are winter hiking trails, ice skating, and curling in Lanersbach, and—at the very top of the glacier—the Natural Ice Palace.

After a day of skiing

When the lifts stop running, the spa opens

A 1,500 m² Alpine spa awaits you: a panoramic indoor pool heated to 32 degrees, five saunas, a natural swimming pond, and a fitness lounge. For tired legs, there are 14 massage options starting at 49 euros.

After that, we'll head to the restaurant for a multi-course dinner with a view of the Hintertux Glacier.
