The Alpinhotel Berghaus is located in Madseit, at the far end of the Tux Valley at an elevation of 1,400 meters. Only one road leads further into the valley, and it ends at the Hintertux Glacier.
Bus route 4104 stops right in front of the house and runs through the entire Tux Valley to Mayrhofen. After a hike along the trail, you can simply hop on the bus and ride back without anyone having to pick up the car at the starting point. The ride is included with the Zillertal Activcard.

TUX³ or Activcard: Which Card Is Worth It?
Both passes cover the mountain railways in the valley, but are best suited for different types of vacations. The main difference lies in the glacier: With the TUX³ Ticket, you can travel up to 3,250 meters, while the Activcard takes you up to the Sommerbergalm at 2,100 meters.
TUX³ Ticket
Zillertal Activcard
The Activcard is all you need for the Frauenwand, since the tour starts at the Sommerbergalm. The TUX³ Ticket does not include admission to the Natur Eis Palast or the Spannagel Cave. Both cards are available at the valley stations and at the tourist offices; the Activcard can also be purchased online in advance.

Hiking
350 kilometers of trails, from the valley floor to over 2,500 meters
There are 350 kilometers of marked hiking trails in Tux-Finkenberg. The trail via the Tulfer Alm, the Grieralm, and the Höllensteinhütte connects Madseit with Lanersbach, so you can start or end it right at your doorstep. For higher destinations, the glacier cable car takes you to the Sommerbergalm at 2,100 meters; this ride is included with the Zillertal Activcard.
The route ranges from the wide trail along the stream to the section secured with ropes below the Frauenwand at 2,541 meters. For each hike, we list the walking time, elevation gain, and places to stop for refreshments so you can assess in advance which hike suits your fitness level.

Guided Tours and Weekly Schedule
Guided hiking without having to plan it yourself
Every week, we put together a schedule of guided hikes and e-bike tours. The hikes are led by Sepp or our senior manager, Thomas, and participation is free for hotel guests. So you don’t have to figure out the route or where to stop for a break on your own.
You'll find out which tours are scheduled for your week-long vacation at the welcome reception on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the hotel bar. The five tours listed below are taken from the weekly program and show just how varied the options are.
E-bike
You can rent an e-bike right here
You can rent e-bikes with helmets right here at the hotel for 42 euros per person per day. That way, you can set off right from the front door in the morning without having to bring a bike on your car’s roof rack.
Our partner, Bernhard Sportmode, provides the bikes—with new models every summer season—and they are serviced weekly. So you don't have to worry about the battery, brakes, or tires yourself.
Guided e-bike tours are also part of the weekly program. This way, you can explore the trails in the valley with someone who knows the area well.
Guests arriving with their own bikes can store them overnight in the ski and bike storage area located beneath the Green Living Apartments, which is connected to the main building via a tunnel.

Housing
Three Ways of Living, Connected by a Tunnel
The Green Living Apartments, the rooms in the main building, and the suites with private spas are connected by a tunnel that also leads to the ski and bike storage area. You can leave your wet hiking boots and bike there and walk back to your room without getting wet.
Three types of accommodations, all located in the same tunnel: the 35 m² Green Living Apartments for two to three people; the rooms in the main building, ranging from 20 to 40 m²; and the suites with private spas, ranging from 54 to 143 m² and accommodating up to nine people.

Field Trips
For days without a summit goal
Behind the house, the valley ends at the Hintertux Glacier. The glacier cable car runs year-round, and at the top, trails lead to the Natur Eis Palast, a crevasse in the glacier ice. So even in the middle of summer, you can find yourself standing in the ice.
You can reach two side valleys via toll roads: the Stillup Valley, accessible starting in mid-May for 12 euros, and the Schlegeis Alpine Road to the Schlegeis Reservoir, open from mid-May through the end of October for 19 euros. It’s best to purchase the Schlegeis ticket online in advance, as cell service is poor at the toll booth.

After the tour
After the tour, to the natural swimming pond
The Alpin Spa covers 1,500 m² and features a 32-degree panoramic indoor pool, five saunas, a natural swimming pond, and a fitness lounge. Access is included in the room rate for hotel guests, and for tired legs, there are 14 massage options starting at 49 euros.
After that, we'll head to the restaurant for a multi-course dinner with a view of the Hintertux Glacier.
